Love suspiria (and the others as well). There’s a lot of great horror films it’s hard to narrow it down given all the subgenres. Have you seen the evil dead remake? It was actually one of the best horror films the year it came out. That blood rain part though 🤗
I still don’t know if I like the ‘remake’ I’m a snotty purist sometimes and will dislike a retool, remake, reboot or whatever Hollywood want to call it, just on principle.
I would give it a second chance. There are a couple remakes that are better than the originals (Last House on the Left, I Spit on Your Grave, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes)
I remember introducing an ex-girlfriend to the original Chainsaw on an old, chewed VHS copy. A far superior film is the original as well as the original Hills Have Eyes, even though I enjoyed those two remakes. But honestly, like the sequel to the Human Centipede, why did Last House and I Spit ever need to be remade?
Lol, what was better about Last House? Dennis Iliadis hasn’t done anything groundbreaking since, so was it the fact you just took an old movie, gave it a sugar coating from the 2000’s and said done! Or did he indeed make an amazing film? If so where is he in standing to Craven? And the face that the original Last House is a remake anyway. But, I’m interested in what made it a better film than the original for you?
I think it has better acting, kills, and a more brutal rape scene so overall it was more terrifying than the original. I do miss the mom biting off his dick thing though
It is the best slasher film ever made. It was one of the first to be self referential and introduced us to “meta” jokes. It’s scary and thrilling during the kills and contains some very comedic dialogue and characters. The character development is on point and and that opening kill with Drew Barrymore is gold star gore. Also, it’s the type of movie I will never get tired of watching. It’s too good. And it spawned a very successful franchise with 3 sequels and 2 seasons of a TV series.
